Pro Dunker

Amir Smith is a 6’6” dunker, SlamBall player and actor from Missouri City, Texas. He is the son of Joe Smith, the number one overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft, and he played four years of college basketball before turning to dunking full time.

He started at Rice in 2015-16, spent a year at State Fair Community College where he led NJCAA in blocks and made First Team All-Region, played 28 games at Florida Atlantic in 2017-18 with 33 blocks, and finished at Hampton in 2019-20. He then played professionally in Sweden with Jamtland Basket, averaging 7.5 points and 5 rebounds.

He plays stopper for the SlamBall Slashers, wearing number 24. Off the court he appeared in three episodes of Netflix’s Running Point in 2025 and has worked as a model and content producer, with an Instagram following north of 370,000.

On the dunk side he runs with HoopBus, the touring court-on-a-bus project, and has been announced for the dunk contest at VeniceBall Legends Weekend in August 2026, an event hosted by Kadour Ziani at Venice Beach.

The combination is the interesting part. Most of the dunkers on this site came up outside organised basketball or left it early. Smith went through the full Division I and professional pathway first, and the dunking is what he built on top of a career that already existed, which is closer to how the sport worked in the Team Flight Brothers era than to how it works now.
