Hunter Castona is a dunker from Wisconsin, 6'1" with an 8'0" standing reach and a 40" vertical. He goes up off two feet from a right-left plant, and his signature is the under both. He is also a recurring co-host on the Dunk Talk podcast.
He got his first dunk at fifteen, somewhere around eighth grade or freshman year, and spent his early years as a one-foot jumper. The switch to two feet is the hinge point in his story. Converting takeoff style partway through is an awkward thing to do, because it means giving up the timing and comfort already built, and it is the main reason his numbers moved the way they did afterwards.
The year following that switch he added more than ten inches to his vertical. In the same stretch he went from windmills to landing an under both, which is a large gap to close in twelve months and the kind of progression that usually takes several years of incremental work.
Dylan Haugen first came across him on TikTok, which at the time was the only platform he posted on, throwing down one-handers, two-handers and windmills. The clip that stood out was his first 360. The two started talking through comments, met up for sessions, and Hunter has since become a fixture of the podcast, which means a large share of the guest interviews on this site were recorded with him in the room asking questions.
