Dunk King Season 1Blindfold DunkVeteran

Kenny Dobbs, known throughout the sport as The Dunk Inventor, is a 6'4" professional dunker from Phoenix, Arizona with a 48" vertical. He goes up off two feet from a right-left plant, and his signature is a between-the-legs off the bounce. He got his first dunk at 14.

He won four dunk titles in three years. He won the Phoenix Sprite Slam Dunk Championship in 2010, the Sprite LA title in 2011, and the Ball Up streetball dunk title the same year, then took the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown at NBA All-Star Weekend in Orlando in 2012. That last win changed things: it put him in front of Donnie Nelson, then general manager of the Texas Legends, and he was drafted that year into the NBA Development League with the Dallas Mavericks affiliate.

The dunk most people know him for is the blindfold, which he landed in front of LeBron James and which drew a reaction from him in person. The nickname came from the volume of new dunks rather than any one of them; he spent years building finishes nobody had put a name to yet.

His influence reaches into the NBA contest itself. He mentored Jeremy Evans and helped inspire the two-ball dunk Evans brought to the 2012 NBA Dunk Contest, which is an unusual line for a streetball dunker to have on his record.

Away from contests he has toured with the NBA and with Sprite as a celebrity dunker, performing at halftime shows, celebrity games and All-Star Weekends in front of sold-out arenas. He is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and spends a significant amount of his time speaking to young people in tribal communities around the country, using the dunking as the way in rather than the point.
