Cordel Hardley is a professional dunker and basketball entertainer who performs with Flight Squad Basketball, one of the touring exhibition teams keeping streetball and dunk shows in front of live audiences across the United States.
He goes up off two feet with a right-left plant, and his signature is the behind-the-back. His work sits at the intersection of dunking and performance. Rather than building a career purely around contests, Hardley has spent years on the road doing halftime shows, school assemblies and exhibition games. Flight Squad books that kind of work year round at schools, colleges and pro arenas, which means the job is not only to complete the dunk but to land it on the first attempt, in front of a live crowd, rather than on the tenth take in an empty gym.
One of the clearest examples came in October 2023, when he traveled across Diné Bikéyah with fellow entertainer Jerrickson Hosteen and AND1 streetball legend Philip "Hot Sauce" Champion. The three performed at 10 schools and ran 16 assemblies in a single week, timed to Red Ribbon Week, carrying a drug and alcohol free message to students across the Navajo Nation. Champion noted at the time that performing on the reservations matters precisely because the kids there rarely get that kind of exposure.
Dunkademics has filmed Hardley in a power dunk session with Jason McCoy and at The Dunk Camp, where he showed up alongside a long list of the sport's best jumpers. That is a very different test from the entertainment circuit, with no crowd to play to and nothing to hide behind but the jump itself. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith before moving into entertainment basketball full time.
