Mac McClung is the most decorated dunk contest performer in NBA history. He won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest three years running in 2023, 2024, and 2025, becoming the first player ever to three-peat, and he did it at 6'2" with a 48" vertical against fields of much taller opponents.
The 2025 title was close to a perfect night, with every dunk scored a 50. He cleared an entire car, going over the roof rather than the hood the way Blake Griffin famously did, and he leapt over 6'11" Evan Mobley, kissed the front of the ball off the rim, and brought it back down with two hands. Across his contest career he has also landed a 540 and jumped clean over Shaquille O'Neal. He chose not to enter the 2026 contest, which leaves the three-peat standing as the mark to beat.
Long before any of that he was a Virginia high school legend. At Gate City he finished as the all-time leading scorer in Virginia High School League history with 2,801 points, and his 1,153-point senior season broke Allen Iverson's VHSL single-season record. He once dropped 64 in a game as a junior, the highest total by a Virginia public school player since 1984, and he led Gate City to the first state title in program history with 47 points in the final, breaking J.J. Redick's state finals scoring record along the way.
He averaged 14.2 points over 50 games at Georgetown before transferring to Texas Tech, where he put up 15.5 per game and declared for the draft in 2021. He went undrafted and built his professional career the hard way, earning G League MVP honors in 2023-24 for the Osceola Magic with a league-leading 25.7 points and 6.6 assists a night. Dunkademics was among the first platforms to document his athleticism above the rim, and Gilbert Arenas has argued he will go down as the best dunker ever.
Dunkman League 2026. He won Group Stage D on August 11, the last of the four groups, and advances to the World Championship as a group champion alongside Cam Hazzard, Dillan McCarthy and Isaiah Rivera. The World Championship is on August 25 at the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, where $500,000 goes to the winner.
