Isaiah Rivera is an American professional dunker with one of the highest verticals ever officially tested at 50.5 inches, and a package that spans both trick and power finishes. He is 6’2″, goes up off two feet from a left-right plant, and his signature is a 360 behind-the-back between-the-legs.
His story is one of logic applied relentlessly. He grew up jumping off bleachers in Puerto Rico, fell in love with basketball at eight, and was then cut from his high school team three years in a row before finally making it as a senior. Nothing about the early part of this suggested where it was going.
The turn came at sixteen, when Jordan Kilganon‘s Crown dunk autoplayed on a school computer. He describes it as shattering his sense of what was possible. The important part was not the dunk itself but the realization that followed: Kilganon had built those hops through training that anyone could do, which meant the ceiling was a question of work rather than birth.
He has spent nearly a decade as a professional dunker since, and co-founded THP Strength, where he now programs for other athletes chasing their own verticals. That side of it has become as much a part of his footprint as the dunking. Several of the dunkers on this site trace part of their own progress back to him, whether through THP or a direct message that pulled them into structured training, and while others have since tested higher, the 50.5 stood as the reference figure for years.
DunkMan League 2026: third place. Rivera won Group Stage C on August 4 with 9.35, ahead of Darius Clark and Vadym Piddubchenko, and advanced automatically. He finished third at the World Championship on August 25, behind Cam Hazzard and Dengxing Chen.
His run started against Dylan Haugen in the first round. Haugen opened with a Hand-Off to Eastbay over a person, no push-off. Rivera answered by punching a 360 Inverter, and when Haugen could not land a Hide-And-Seek, the round was decided. With nothing left to prove, Rivera went for a 360 BTB, a 360 Behind-The-Back Between-The-Legs, and then a 360 Kamikaze. He missed both, and needed neither.
