Vieux Sanneh is a 6’5” forward at the University of New Orleans and a dunk contest competitor with a vertical measured above 50 inches. He is from Palmdale, California, and came to New Orleans from LA Premier Prep as a freshman for the 2025-26 season.
He won the 2025 Ballislife All-American slam dunk contest, held at the Hall of Champions at Long Beach City College. The Ballislife All-American event is one of the main high school showcases in the country, and its dunk contest is the one that most reliably turns into a national clip.
In July 2026 he was named in the four-dunker field for the Quai 54 contest in Paris, billed as Sanneh Vieux Badialy of Senegal, alongside Chen Dengxing, Anthony Degnan and Mounir Konate. That is a field of career contest dunkers, and he was the college freshman in it. Chen won the contest, which was moved indoors to Clichy Hall at short notice because of a heatwave alert.
His nationality is listed two ways: New Orleans carries Palmdale, California as his hometown, and Quai 54 announced him under Senegal. Both can be true of the same person and neither source contradicts the other outright.
He is at the start of the college season rather than the end of a career, with two appearances and eleven minutes on the floor in his freshman year. The dunking is what is finished and the basketball is what is still forming, which is an unusual way round for someone his age.
