World Record52.5 Inch VertRising Star

Ethan Pimstone is a 6'1" dunker from Oak Park, California who went from complete unknown to one of the highest tested vertical jumps ever recorded in roughly a year. He goes up off two feet from a left-right plant, and his signature is the back scratcher windmill.

The number that made his name is 52.5". He set it at Dunk Camp in June of 2026, and it held the world record until Darius Clark cleared 53 inches, so it is a former record rather than a current one. What makes it stranger is how recently he was nobody in this sport. The first time anyone measured him he tested 44.5" having done no dedicated vertical jump training and no dedicated dunk training at all, which is the kind of baseline most people spend years trying to reach.

Dunk Camp 2025 was the turning point. He showed up largely unknown, tested 47.5" on the day, and got his first Eastbay in the same session, a combination that did not make much sense to the people watching. Getting a first Eastbay while already jumping close to 48 inches is backwards from how the progression usually runs, and it told everyone there that the ceiling was a lot higher than the resume suggested.

The training behind it is a family operation. His older brother Jordan Pimstone is a strength and conditioning coach who programs for him full time, which makes the two of them arguably the highest-jumping pair of brothers alive. Ethan has since taken that bounce into public competition, including a run in one of Jesser's YouTube dunk contests, and in a very short window has gone from a total newcomer to a regular name in vertical jump conversations.
